Superintendent David Freeman accepting the "Optimized Plant
Award" from ADEM Drinking Water Branch Representative Laura
Taylor.
The Cullman Water Treatment Plant was recognized by the
Alabama Department of Environmental Management’s Drinking
Water Branch’s Area Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) for
reaching an optimized level of performance that is beyond
the minimum requirements established by the United States
Environmental Protection Agency. The Cullman WTP has
received this “Optimized Plant Award” for four out of the
last five years.
By reaching this level of “Optimized Performance,”
the Cullman Water Treatment Plant employees
demonstrate their dedication to providing customers the best
possible water quality. This level of performance
significantly reduces the chance of any microbiological
organisms from getting into your drinking water supply.
“Superintendent David Freeman and the employees of the
Cullman Water Treatment Plant are dedicated to ensuring that
our customers receive the highest quality water possible,”
said Cullman Mayor Max A. Townson. “I commend them for their
efforts, and am proud of their achievements.”
The Cullman Water Treatment Plant is a division of the
Utilities Board of the City of Cullman, which also supplies
water to the Cullman County (which serves the Garden City
water system), Walter, East Cullman, Johnson’s Crossing,
VAW, and Hanceville
water systems. The award was presented at ADEM’s annual
Surface Water Meeting held in Montgomery, Alabama, October
19 and 20, 2009.
